Find & Seek at Leeds Corn Exchange
Leeds Arts University take up residence in Unit One at Leeds Corn Exchange 13th - 17th March showcasing some of their students best work.
Curator of the show Aderice Palmer Jones talks about the project below I was keen to pursue the concept of a LAU pop up shop collaborative project as I felt as a the only specialist arts university in the north, it was important for us to be more directly involved with both the Leeds and wider North Yorkshire community. We particularly wanted our pop up debut in a historic space that reflects the values and are regular supporters of northern creativity and local independents.
The aims for the pop up are to showcase the uniquely creative talents of students across all the courses of the university.
To strengthen our relationships within the local business community.
To promote the corn exchange as an incredible supporter for all creatives regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and financial background.
To promote the value in arts education - especially offered at LAU.
'I am so excited to become part of the corn exchange community, its such a cool and interesting venue and its the first time I have been able to sell my work' - Aya Labib
'The corn exchange is a really beautiful and historic building that houses so many individual independent businesses, so it feels exciting to have the opportunity to be part of a unique shopping experience as opposed to a commercial one.' - Alice Colvin-Cousley
